Complete your profile and keep it up-to-date
A photo alone will drastically increase your chances of being contacted by other members. A profile with several photos and all or most details (profession, location, interests, etc.) filled in will attract far more attention than a half-empty profile.
Don’t miss your chance – give your profile a personal touch and make yourself more tangible and interesting to other members.
We strongly recommend that you keep your profile (in particular fields such as Location and Profession) as up-to-date as possible. We know that activity has a very positive impact on first contact frequency.
Don’t be too choosy
It’s important to have standards, but don’t be too choosy in terms of age, height, or distance: the man or woman of your dreams could be just outside your search criteria. A year too young or old, a centimeter too short or tall… is it really that important if the person is exactly what you’ve always wanted in every other way? Even distance: a longer drive might be inconvenient, but what if he or she is willing to or even planning to relocate to your area? Keeping your options open is a key to success.
Visit other profiles and do the first move!
View the profiles of members who you might be interested in – people are often curious about their visitors, and any resulting counter-visit will provide an excellent opportunity to get in touch. Don’t wait for others to make the first move – do it yourself! If you see someone who you find interesting, let him or her know.
Hint: You should always tailor personal messages to the person you are contacting. Nobody wants to receive a standard letter.
